Gold on the side

I've been a huge Amanda Nisbet fan for several years now. However, in this image it is the side table that stands out. This tiered accent table is useful and chic. Sure, it's three peices of glass to windex, but the additional storage in a living room or bedside is well worth it!

I love furniture with gold leaf in pictures, but I'm not sure how to apply this in my own home. Here are some other gold leaf items I have been collecting. All images below from Horchow.

Front Yard Progress

This spring we have made some progress in the front yard. The picture below is from late April 2011, after Brooks cut down the magnolia tree and pulled out the holly bushes.

Memorial Day Weekend 2011. After hours of weeding the flower bed. Love our new State of North Carolina garden flag!

View of the front yard now that the stump is removed. Trying to grow grass and still undecided about what bushes and trees to plant in front of the house.

Almost ready to paint and get new shutters. If only I had time to stay home and get quotes during the week!

Warm for Winter

This dining room looks warm and cozy for a cold winter day. I love the textural details.

Peachy Keen Kitchen

Loving everything about this kitchen seen on Birch & Lily.

Just like all my dream kitchens, this one has creamy cabinetry and hardwood floors. Beautiful French doors let in soft daylight. The wood tones and brass door fittings are just rich and warm enough to balance the cool blue chairs and the silver pendant light, but it's the peaches that really make this room so fresh!

Refurbishing Inspriration

Our goal is to decorate our home for as little money as possible. First, because we don't have much money. Second, because we don't want a lot of debt. Third, because it is fun! Well, I think it sounds like fun...we'll see.
I have been looking for DIY furniture inspiration. Here are a few good examples:

On Nest Egg a wingback goes from something you'd see in granny's parlor to slipcovered fabulousness...

Or as seen on I Suwannee "Holy Wingchair"

Rearranging Results

A week off work is a good time to do some rearranging. Here are a few photos...
The living room furniture is now in the family room adjacent to the kitchen. Brooks thinks it is "cozier" although I know he really likes it because now his chair is closer to the TV.

I also swapped the bedding between the two guest bedrooms for a more serene look.

Curtains are at the cleaners.

Still need to move the small desk out and paint the dresser.
