Dream Kitchen

This was my first "dream kitchen." I cam across this photo while searching the PointClick Home image files in 2008. At the time, I didn't know how to save the file, so I just left my browser open for days on end, slowing my 2005 macbook to a crawl.
The mix of woodwork and sleek white subway tiles with stainless appliances seemed like heaven compared to our tiny apartment kitchen with laminate counters. I also loved the idea of hardwood floors in the kitchen, since my parents have tile and I know how painful that can be to stand on while cooking. The stools look inviting for guests to sit at the bar during food prep and I love the under-cabinet lighting. Plus, I already have the pink Kitchen Aid mixer. For months, this was my favorite kitchen. Until...

Elizabeth Kimberly Designs. This kitchen is from the same home I posted on in February. There are many similarities to my first dream kitchen, the flush cabinet doors, the lighting, a soft gray palette and hardwood floors, but this one has something more. Marble, yes that is what really makes a difference. The substantial heavily veined marble counters are amazing! Not to mention the shiny wood floors that are in every room of this beautiful house. Finally, the upholstered chair at the dining table and the wall of windows helped win me over. This is definitely Dream Kitchen #2!

Alas, Dream Kitchen #3. After spending a weekend at my parent's home and watching non-stop HGTV/Sarah's House on their satellite, I went to check out designer Sarah Richardson's online portfolio. I kept coming back to this photograph and that is when it hit me...This kitchen is so similar to my "dream kitchens!" Slightly more realistic for some reason, perhaps a more true-to-life mix of colors. Despite my best efforts, I am unable to stop other colors (like the lime drapes here) from seeping into rooms that are supposed to be one singular color scheme. Three pendants over the island, beautiful white cabinetry, and arched windows letting in tons of natural light all add to the list of reasons why I want a dream kitchen!
